I think that the Department of Education (DepEd) should also be part of the screening board, in screening the advertisements that is being aired in the television beside from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Researched shows that:
"The greater proportion of children performed sedentary activities. During weekdays, watching TV, and DVD was the usual activity after school. While on weekends, playing video games and watching TV three to four times were noted. " source FNRI
"Children are more vulnerable to the influence of television since they have more time on viewing TV programs than interacting with family members or doing other significant activities in school. More often children are left with the television alone without parental guidance even the show requires so." source PIA
according to the research, that most often activity of children is watching televisions thus not only affect their healthy lifestyle but also affect in the way they think.
showing ads like this will just harm the children, this is not the first time that this kind of ads appear on a television.
Remember the ad of Tide??? stating that 2 is greater than 1, which will affects the Math skills of a child, and now airing on television is the ad of LBC which will now affect the spelling skills of a child.
Not only TV advertisements that affects the way a child thinks, also TV shows which some shows are using Tag-lish, incorrect Grammar and addition is greater than multiplication (1+1=2 : 1x1=1) ; thus affects the English grammar and Math skills of a Child.
